Online psychological care for expatriates

The idea of creating a clinic for expatriate individuals came from my own experience in Germany from 2008 to 2012 as an expatriate.

Culture, identity and migration have always been themes that crossed my life, studies and consequently my clinic.

I started practicing in Berlin in 2009 serving Brazilians and Portuguese residents in Germany and with that I could quickly notice the expatriate's anxieties, whether directly or not caused by the expatriation process, but always having it as a background.

There is no clinic in psychology focused only on the condition of being a foreigner, but there is definitely the possibility of listening to the person who is crossed by migratory experiences and how these are affecting them. We are all beings inserted in some social and cultural environment and it is from this that we will guide clinical listening, offering a space in their mother tongue to speak freely about what is distressing.

Expatriation will question our place in the world, it has to do with our dreams, desires and expectations and even though leaving the homeland was well thought out and structured, the expatriation process can still be psychically challenging.

Certainly, online assistance does not replace physical presence, but video-call assistance is a great vehicle to bring those who are geographically far closer in a relational manner and provide a therapeutic bond with a qualified professional and access to mental health without borders.

  • Convenience for those with access difficulties.

  • Qualified listening with a theoretical basis.

  • During confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • For Brazilians who live abroad and wish to undergo therapy in their mother tongue.

  • Adapted and flexible hours are offered.

  • Consultations last about 50 minutes to 1 hour.

  • The duration of psychological counseling varies from person to person.

  • Is important  choosing a place  comfortable and with privacy so you feel free to talk freely during sessions.

"The only interesting life is the life that happens here and now.
It doesn't have to be epic, it doesn't have to be extraordinary, it doesn't need anything.
It needs the effective presence of those who are living."
